Origin

Shungite is sedimentary coal rock. It is often used as a color pigment and is used
used as a substitute for activated carbon. Shungite is very light and, in its purest form, highly lustrous, but mostly occurs as a fine-grained, dark-grey clay rock with partially visible fine sedimentary deposits.
