Characteristics

The name Hypersthene comes from the Greek and means something like "power". It lies
because it has a higher Mohs hardness than the very similar mineral bronze. The color variety of hypersthene ranges from brown-green to reddish-brown and dark brown to black. The largest deposits of the gem are in Iceland, Sweden, England, Scotland, Germany, Austria, Slovakia, USA, Canada, China, Japan, Australia and Brazil . The hypersthene has thus been found all over the world.
